Katie has over a dozen years of experience in Washington, D.C., working for and with federal agencies, the Executive Branch and non-profit organizations. Originally from Cleveland, she manages government affairs and strategic alliances in the nation’s Capital and across the country. Most recently, Katie served as the Director of Policy for ACT for NIH, a non-profit advocacy organization that works closely with Congress to make increasing biomedical research funding a national priority. Under her leadership, National Institutes of Health (NIH) received an 11% budget increase over the past two appropriations cycles. Previously, during the Obama-Biden Administration, Katie spent six years in the White House as Deputy Director of Operations in the Executive Residence and then as Policy Associate on Vice President Biden’s Cancer Moonshot Task Force. She then helped launch his post-White House non-profit, the Biden Cancer Initiative and served as the Program Director for the organization, initiating and leading collaborations across industry and government to address gaps in cancer research and treatment systems. Before working in government, Katie implemented strategic planning for the Department of Defense as a consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton, where she specialized in human capital management and business process reengineering. Katie’s extensive experience in health and biomedical research policy and strategic consulting with the Pentagon as well as strong relationships with key agencies, such as NIH, the healthcare sector, private companies, non-profit organizations, and patient and advocacy groups across the country, make her an effective changemaker. She brings a wealth of expertise, connections and energy to provide a new level of strategic government engagement.
