On March 29, 2021, a Virtual Congressional Briefing shed light on what we can do to address safety for Members of Congress, staff, police, constituents and all who walk the halls of Congress and/or engage in district offices and activities. Innovations in safety devices and materials are advancing with the ability to make our strongest safety efforts even stronger. This Briefing brought together a team of experts in safety measures such as ballistics protection, impact resistant panels, and bulletproof glass to share ways we can physically secure buildings, giving those who enter an added layer of protection and peace of mind. These applications can be applied to schools, places of worship, office buildings, college campuses, restaurants, etc. but are light and versatile enough to be carried in purses, backpacks, briefcases, etc. as a constant, active means of safety. Below are resources for these safety measures.
