Increasing Influence and Shaping Policy for an Academic Institution
Goal:
Develop relationships with Congress to raise profile of institution and pursue support for a new center.
Results:
Created Strategic Roadmap listing key targets and developed messaging that would resonate with each one
Organized meetings with each target to introduce the institution and new center concept and start to build support
Targeted Members of Congress from the home state and key committees of jurisdiction and showed the value to the nation of the new center
Planned on-site tours and meetings
Wrote legislative language to include in the Defense Appropriations bill to provide Congressional backing for the center
Developed strong relationships for the institution
