Secure Funding for Healthy Food Access
Goal:
Educate on how the CDFI works and why a new healthy food financing initiative should receive state funding.
Results:
Researched section of bill in which to include our funding request and listed key state legislators and agencies to target in Ohio, then crafted Strategic Roadmap
Crafted educational messaging and wrote white paper with statistics on the health, well-being and high cost of Ohioians, especially within Medicaid, tied to the lack of healthy food access
Organized meetings with the Statehouse leadership and legislators, then met repeatedly to explain how the financing program works and why funding was needed
Planned Statehouse Day luncheon with speakers and media outreach, followed by meetings with key legislators, Governor’s office and the committees overseeing appropriations
